Volcanoes of the Deep Sea reveals the astounding sights that lie 12,000 feet below the surface of the ocean, while delivering a real-life tale of mystery as scientists search for an animal that may be one of Earth's greatest survivors - an ancient species that is decorating the deep sea floor with its strange hexagonal trademark.

BEAVERS, AMPHIBIOUS MAMMALS INVADE! - Showtimes 1pm, 5pm

A Stephen Low Company Production. The film begins with a young pair of beavers traveling overland in a hazard-filled search for a site to build a new home. Filmed above and below water at several different stunning locations and at three different dam sites throughout the Canadian Rocky Mountains, Beavers displays an accurate and detailed portrayal of the dam construction process: from tree cutting to the finished product. The final dam depicted in the film is some 300 feet long! Audiences learn how dam building by the beaver creates a water habitat for an infinite variety of new creatures. When the dam eventually breaks and the water drains from the pond, the land beneath becomes rich and fertile meadow.

Apart from the years' other performances, this one adds an extra level of complexity by combining art forms. Collegiate's elite fourteen student Vocal Jazz ensemble will perform a selection of a capella and accompanied jazz standards, featuring multiple soloists and scat singers. Performing on the same stage will be the Dance Department, including Cadence, Modern and Jazz dance groups and a selection of dancing soloists. Don't miss this special evening.

Ground Floor Gallery of Old Custom House: This exhibition explores the life work of Margaret Tafoya, the Matriarch of Santa Clara Pueblo potters.
Tafoya drew inspiration from the ceramic traditions of her ancestors and created large, polished wares that are simple but elegant, reflecting a harmonious union of tradition and modern aesthetics.

New Architectural Design Exhibit Opening at Erie Maritime Museum

Harnessing wind energy is something the crew of the U.S. Brig Niagara does every time she sails. Harvesting that same wind as a sustainable energy source to power her home berth, the Erie Maritime Museum, is an idea that would not only reflect the heart of her sailing operation, but prove to be an innovative solution to problems created by high energy demand and its impact on the environment.

The Erie Maritime Museum welcomes visitors to the opening reception of its new exhibit, Wind Turbine Integration in Architecture and the Urban Environment on Saturday, April 14, 2012, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. in the Museum's West Wing Gallery.

This exhibit presents projects developed in a third-year design studio at Penn State's Department of Architecture. Students visited Tall Ships Erie and the waterfront in September 2010, then designed a dream addition to the Erie Maritime Museum, including ship's building and maintenance facilities. Six different ways of integrating wind turbines are presented in the model designs: on the roof, at the parapet, wind funneling structures within the roof, funneling structures within the building, at the façade, or free standing. The architectural models on display reflect the diversity of wind collection methods, as well as interesting aesthetic approaches, making the new complexes attractive waterfront elements.

The exhibition is part of a larger research project at Penn State. Since 2010, an interdisciplinary team of Penn State researchers and instructors from the Departments of Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Landscape Architecture, and Aerospace Engineering has collaborated in researching this topic of building-integrated wind energy. The team combines technical, environmental and aesthetic research and design studies, and forms a testing ground for new architectural strategies, in which the utilization of wind turbines is closely linked to buildings. Charlie Lewis, a famous playwright, has become so obsessed with his work that he hallucinates the characters that he writes about -- and re-writes about in all his plays. After a mental collapse and realizing he had completely lost touch with reality, he checks himself into a mental health facility. Not following the doctor's orders to take a break from writing, he locks himself up in his room with his scripts and his characters, and thehilarious mayhem ensues! Now, his three favorite characters have realized it is up to them to help Charlie. But as they poke around inside Charlie's head,one question remains --

'Who and what is real?'

Lake Erie Wine Country will hold their annual Wine & Cheese Weekend on May 18, 19 and 20. Ticket holders will visit any or all of our 23 participating wineries where they will enjoy a special wine paired with delicious artisan cheeses or food samples created with exquisite Yancey's Fancy cheeses. As in the past, ticket holders will receive a wine glass, recipe booklet, a $5 voucher for wine purchase and a gift. This year's gift is a wine bottle-shaped bamboo cutting board with a cheese spreader.

There is a diverse and delicious array of food offerings for this year's event. Cheese Fondue, Garden Stuffed Shells with Herb Cream Sauce, Bacon Maple Biscuits, Loaded Pasta Salad, Apple Stuffed Chicken Breast, Cheesy Spinach and Bacon Quiche, Beef Hash Brown Pizza Casserole, and Buffalo Blue Cheese Soup are but some of the foods that can be savored along with the perfect complementary wine.

Tickets are now on sale for the popular Wine & Cheese Weekend at only $35 per person. They may be purchased online at www.lakeeriewinecountry.org before Wednesday, May 16th at 9 a.m. Ticket holders will plan their own itinerary, enjoying each winery at their leisure on Friday, May 18 from noon-5 p.m. or Saturday and Sunday, May 19 and 20 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Transportation is not provided. Wine & Cheese Weekend is sponsored by Yancey's Fancy Cheeses.

Designated driver tickets are available for only $20 and include everything except wine and the $5 voucher.

Lake Erie Wine Country, formerly The Chautauqua-Lake Erie Wine Trail, has been incorporated for more than a decade. They are a consortium of 23 wineries located on a 44-mile stretch between North East, PA and Silver Creek, NY along the southern shore of Lake Erie. The mission of this non-profit organization is to 'support and to market the wine and grape industries in Chautauqua County, New York and Erie County, Pennsylvania through the promotion of excellence in wine products, in winery and associate member facilities, and in the tourism experience in the region.'
